Devlog #2: Unlockable Biomes, Gold Overhaul, and More!
Hey Head Hunters!
It's been an exciting journey since our last update, and I'm thrilled to share the latest improvements and additions to the game. Your feedback has been instrumental in shaping these updates, so thank you for your continued support. Let's dive into what's new:
New Features:
Unlockable Biomes
- Explore new biomes by paying with gold, adding strategic depth to progression.
Gold Overhaul
- Rebalanced gold distribution and increased gold size for a more satisfying collection experience.
- Implemented a system to spawn random gold pieces until a target value is reached.
Level-specific Enhancements
- Level-specific objects now reset when generating a new level.
- Biome names are displayed above doors, providing clarity and immersion.
- Every level generates with at least one unlocked door to prevent soft-lock situations.
Bug Fixes:
- Prevented pogo jumps while the player is on the wall.
- Removed wall jump momentum stutter.
Areas of Focus for Future Updates:
Polish and Bug Fixes
- Address known issues such as the minimap not working in web builds or the village, and splodes moving through the ground.
Sound Design
- Add more sound effects for various actions, including collecting experience, leveling up, hitting spikes, enemy movements and attacks, and entering doors.
User Experience Improvements
- Implement a loading animation after entering a door for smoother transitions.
- Add options to the pause menu, including volume settings.
- Connect volume options to audio sources for seamless control.
- Introduce controller support for enhanced gameplay experience.
Gameplay Additions
- Incorporate procedurally generated statues that heal the player for gold.
- Expand enemy behaviors by adding attacks for the bat and idle states for the laser enemy and sentinel.
